In Brisbane, curlews are very common in our parks and botanical gardens and grassy spots, extremely close to urban life. I find them so quaint with their big glassy stare, although it’s rare to see where they nest - probably because it’s basically just a spot on the ground!
It was lovely working on an artwork of these familiar birds. It’s one of the artworks I created for children’s book “Snuggled Away” written by Cate Storey.
