Foraging for Family - Mixed Media
To forage for truffles: that's what she loves best.
Such a sweet and unassuming animal, I must admit I didn’t know much about bettongs before I started researching them for the children’s book Snuggled Away - of which this painting was created for. As so many of the animals in the book are nocturnal, we rarely see them.
I wanted to convey a parent foraging for food, while keeping her child close by. There are lots of vivid colours being thrown on to the ground by the moonlight to bring out the soft shade of the bettong’s fur.
